Fineblanking as a process will be used for serial parts, where

• the cut surface represents a function (i.e. gears, theeth) and thus needs to be smooth and at a right angle to the surface.
• there is a pronounced requirement for planeness.
• there will be high requirements for tolerances of measure and play.
